Why You Need An Effective Marketing Plan Before Starting A Business?

According to a local survey, two-thirds of the people who started an online store did not have a concrete plan on how to get customers.

The most common answers to the question “What is your strategy for acquiring customers?" Included terms such as:

  • Social media
  • SEO
  • Recommendations from friends and family
  • Paid Advertising

While it is true that they are valid responses, about 60% of participants indicated that they don’t have previous experience of selling a product online.

Moreover, the remaining third of participants answered the same question in a more concrete and tangible way, with actions such as:

  • Attend fairs and exhibitions
  • Build a mailing list for an exclusive release
  • Create a database of bloggers for product reviews
  • Find magazines for reviews on them

Of that group, nearly half indicated that they had the opportunity to sell a product previously online or was building a group of potential customers to which to launch a store.

The data from that survey also showed that the stores that had planned ahead of the launch of a product or its overall brand generated 100 new customers in its first month of work while maintaining a growth trend continued the following three years of operation. While other businesses might perhaps come to have 20-30 new clients per month during their first two years of work and to accomplish this, they saw a decrease in this number.

This data shows that before you even start thinking of creating a business, you have to know the structure of a marketing plan, how to attract, keep and to acquire customers from your competitors.
